Dongzhimen is the name given to a much larger area than indicated.
It used to be the name of a gate into the city, but now is the name of the area surrounding a overpass bridge as well as interchange where Dongzhimen Street crosses over the second ring road.

Dongzhimen Street is a road which runs east-west from the 3rd ring road in the east, part way into the 2nd ring road where it's name changes (Outside the 2nd ring is called Dongzhimen Outer Street and inside the 2nd ring is called Dongzhimen Inner Street).
