This is part of an ancient oak and ash woodland called Savages Spinney. In the spring it is carpeted with bluebells which are a nationally important species for conservation. Post-16 groups come here on organised visits to study woodland ecosystems and to learn how the Wildlife Trust manages the woodland for biodiversity and conservation.
