Lime Kiln Point is named for the lime that used to be mined and burned there for cement production. Situated on a rocky point, this park is a popular whale-watching location, especially orcas. Minke whales, orcas, porpoises, seals, sea lions and otters are all visible at times. The peak whale-watching season is May through September, with June and July being the most likely months to see whales, but I've never seen any after 6 visits. The lighthouse was built in 1919 and still serves as a navigational beacon for ships in the Haro Strait.
