The MG road in Birpara is a one big market. But most of the area from Chowpati to the bus stop is lined with 'hardware stores'. The real 'bazaar' starts before the bus stop and goes past the 'railway line'.

Check out DN Das's Paan Shop (if it is still there, it was there 30 years ago, and I saw it in my visit 10 years ago).

I grew up across from Om Cinema. In those days it was a lot less crowded place. The street from MG Road leading to Om Cinema was my haunt. Check out the medicine store Bengal Stores. Its was owned by my father and uncle. My father is left Birpara. My unle is an empty nester, with his kids grown up and left town. Its reflected in the store. If you read this, and visit Birpara, please give my uncle a hug for me, his nephew in the USA.
