The remnants of a natural forest that existed well before the housing developments of Sainte-Geneviève Gardens (1958) and Greendale (1960) went in, "The Forest" (as it was referred to by residents living within view of it) was a densely wooded area amid open fields and working family farms. It was popular with children playing and the occasional accompanying parent - it was most often very quiet - and was, in the early sixties, considerably larger.
