"selo" means village in Russian and other Slavic langauges. Kolymskoye functions as an inland port on the Kolyma River. Note: This is *not* the selo Kolymskoye in Yakutia (Sakha Republic), near the grave of the Polish geologist and Siberia explorer Jan Czerski, which also is on this river, only further downstream, to the west.

Comments

  • "Selo" doesn't mean village in all Slavic languages, only in eastern Slavic languages and maybe in southern ones. It's definitely not in use in the Czech Republic/Slovakia/Poland.
