village, place with historical importance, Great Patriotic War
Stremilovo is a village with a population of approximately 750 people.
At Stremilovo in late 1941, a reenforced regiment of the Russian 43rd Army pinned down an advancing division of the German Army for over two months, and on 25 December 1941, launched an offensive to Maloyaroslavets.
The village was designated a war memorial to the area militia faction, (absorbed into the regular Russian Army prior to the German invasion), and a monument was placed at a mass grave site to honor their heroic actions.
