Khojali (Azerbaijani: Xocalı) or Ivanyan (Armenian: Իվանյան), also known as Ay-Khodzhaly, Khodgalou, Khodzhalv, Khodzhaly, Khojalu, Khozhali or Ivanian, is a village in the Artsakh Republic, located some 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) northeast of its capital Stepanakert. Internationally, it is still considered a de jure part of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan counts it as the capital of its Khojaly District. In 1992, Armenian soldiers and militias killed more than 600 civilian including women babies and even poultry
