Ukraine / Ternopilska / Buchach / vulytsia Halytska, 53
Baroque (architecture), listed building / architectural heritage, 1750s construction

The Buchach Ratusha (Buchach Town Hall) was built by Mikolaj Basilious Potocki on the design of Bernhard Meretin in 1751. It was built as a monolith square building with two stories and balustrade at the upper story. Over the central stairs located a tower of 35 meters (115 ft) in height. In overall the structure is harmonic and gives an impression of something between a building and sculpture. The author of sculptures is considered to Johann George Pinzel who was brought to Lviv by Meretin. For the Buchach Ratusha Piznzel created number of mythological and allegoric figures: David who kills Goliath, the goddess of justice Femida, Samson who tears apart lion's jaws, Heracles who kills Hydra, Neptune who calms a raging sea, figures of two captives, etc. Those statutes could have been more, but a portion of them was destroyed during the 1859 fire when almost the whole city burned down with the Ratusha.

Since December 30, 1982 the Ratusha was transformed into a historical museum of regional studies.
