Wadi Shab is arguably one of the most tranquil wadi's in Oman. Park the car and proceed to follow the footpaths through the canyon.Ensure you have plenty of water during the summer. The walk will take about one hour, but keep looking above your line of sight for the old caves where people used to live.
When you get to the end, swim the last 2 hundred yards until you encounter a cliff face which looks impassable. Look carefully and you will see a small cleft in the rock. Turn sideways and pull yourself through (about 2 yards)You will enter a cavern with natural daylight and a waterfall. The water is 25ft deep so diving is OK.
Make sure somebody stays behind with any valuables you may have as you will be watched from the undergrowth and theft has been known of late unfortunately.
