Al-Safa is a small hill now located in the Masjid al-Haram it is the starting point of the seven walks(rounds) from here to the Marwah hill located further north. Al-Safa hill is approximately 100 m (330 ft) from the Kaaba. The whole act(procession) is a ritual of the pilgrimage in the Islam religion.

  • This is the hill from where Hagel went to Marwa and back 7 times in search of water for her firstborn ismail (all Arabs are decendents of Ismail) Then a miracle happened and water was found when baby ismail hit the earth whit his foot while crying and this becam the Zam Zam well. (the mountains) As-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the indications of Allah. It is therefore no sin for him who is on pilgrimage to the House (of Allah) or visiteth it, to go around them (as the pagan custom is). And he who doeth good of his own accord, (for him) lo! Allah is Responsive, Aware. (158) Sesungguhnya Shafaa dan Marwah adalah sebahagian dari syi’ar Allah [3] Maka barangsiapa yang beribadat haji ke Baitullah atau ber-’umrah, maka tidak ada dosa baginya [4] mengerjakan sa’i antara keduanya. Dan barangsiapa yang mengerjakan suatu kebajikan dengan kerelaan hati, maka sesungguhnya Allah Maha Mensyukuri [5] kebaikan lagi Maha Mengetahui. (158)
