The settlement of Mount Vernon along Hamilton Road which was initially feud out in the latter half of the nineteenth century, concurrently with North Mount Vernon - neither settlement existed when the ordnance survey carried out their 1864 survey but both were well underway at the time of the 1895-9 surveys.

Extended northwards into the Mount Vernon Estate from the 1950s onwards.
