Tallinn Kalju Baptist Church (also Kalamaja Kalju Chapel) is a church in the Kalamaja district of Tallinn on the corner of Soo and Kalju streets (Kalju 1 / Soo 29). It was opened on December 15, 1902. It is home to the Tallinn Kalju Baptist Church. The church was built on the initiative and with financial support of the Estonian-minded and deeply religious Baron Woldemar von Uexküll, when the rapidly growing Tallinn First Baptist Church, under the pastorship of preacher Andres Tetermanni, desperately needed its own church building. The chapel, which has architectural and historical value, is unlike other chapels of the time, which were predominantly wooden, built of cleanly hewn limestone and in the neo-Gothic style. The architect of the building is Konstantin Wilcken. In the late 1960s, the authorities came up with the idea of ​​closing the church and establishing a chess club there. In 1972, the Kalinin District Executive Committee made a specific decision, and the Sports Committee also wanted a chess club there. The last one was completed in November 1975 in the building at 29 Vene Street, the church remained open. The church is an architectural monument.
