The local SENAC school started its activities in 1951, in a rented building on Conde do Pinhal Street, and then, in 1955, was transferred to Treze de Maio Street. In 1971, the City Hall donated this site for the construction of owned premises. The project, signed by architect Leon Diksztejn, can be characterized by the cover in the form of a dome, which is an important feature of modern Brazilian architecture. The building work got under way in 1973 and was finally completed in 1976. In 1980, the range of courses was expanded and, as a result, some renovation work was implemented, in order to adapt and modernize the premises, in the light of new business areas being implemented within the Unit.
