church, Grade II* Listed (UK)
St Laurence is the parish church of Alvechurch in Worcestershire. Parts of the building date from the 12th century, and was probably the site of an earlier Mercian church, although nothing remains of the earlier wooden building. Much of the church was rebuilt between 1858 and 1861 by William Butterfield. From the outside the most obvious effect of these alterations is the raised roof of the nave which makes the original tower seem rather short. A more recent addition is the "Ark", a boat-shaped hall added to the north of the church in 2005.
