Second World War 1939-1945, historic ruins, Fishing / Hunting / Wilderness Lodge
Formed in 1899, the gun club was responsible for damming up Bolsa Chica's access to direct tidal flow. Club members hunted duck and fowl, paying a hefty club membership fee for the privilege. There was also an LA Red Car stop located here to provide streetcar service to the club.
In 1942, the gun club's lodge once located here became an impromptu barracks after the US Army constructed a 155mm gun battery, Tactical Battery 7, to the south.
The lodge burned down in 1964.
