Lake formed by aggregate extraction, now a managed nature reserve.

The reserve attracts a wide range of passage birds and is also developing as a breeding site for many species including Lapwing, Redshank, Pochard, Reed Bunting, Skylark and Reed Warbler. In winter, large numbers of some species roost in the reed beds - in particular Reed bunting and occasionally large flocks of Starling.
