A large brackish lake in southern County Wexford. It is seperated from the sea by a low dune system at its southern end.

    This lake is a 'back seepage lagoon'. It is separated from the sea by a barrier of sand. Fresh water flowing into the lake from streams seeps through the sand into the sea, and salt seawater seeps through into the lake, so the water is brackish. The lake is a great place for sea birds, in particular terns, who live there in the summer months. Of particular interest is the rare Roseate Tern.
