In the Soviet times Kaji-Say was a closed restricted settlement under the central (Moscow) jurisdiction (like some others - Min-Kush, Maylu-Suu etc). At one time there was quite a prosperous place. People there were involved in development of nearby uranium mines and electrical plant. Currently there is no existing industrial enterprises in Kaji-Say .
