Those unusual buildings in an interior region once served as a maritime background for celebrations on Bärnsdorfer Großteich (Bärnsdorf big pond) of the Saxonian court. The lighthouse with mole and harbour was erected between 1770 and 1780 in order of Saxonian prince-elector Friedrich August III. The historical background was the Dardanelles naval battle between the Russians and Turks in 1770.
