This is the central town library in Hoeryong consisting of Juche-based and historic volumes. Hoeryong is the hometown of General Kim Jong il's mother Kim Jong suk. This library is a research center for DPRK scholars on the Korean Revolution.

The library is a four-storied building with space of 3,000 square meters in the Songchon-dong, 100 m south of Osan Hill. With 300.000 volumes and 500 seats, it was built in 1993 on the occasion of the 76th birthday of Comrade Kim Jong Suk.

KNCA: The Hoeryong city people's library is situated in downtown Hoeryong city, North Hamgyong Province, northern part of Korea. The four-storeyed library opened on December 24, Juche 82 (1993). Its total floor space is 2,700 square meters. It has a collection of 300,000 volumes and over 800 seats. It boasts of a lending room, a reading room for pupils and students of primary and senior middle schools, a question-and-answer room for scientists, technicians and experts, a mathematics room for students, a recorded and video lecture room, a micro film reading room and a film projection room. And there are reading rooms according to foreign languages and standard of knowledge. The library gives regular lectures on the matters needed for the development of information industry and on the scientific and technological matters showing the world trend of development.
