A new YMCA and the North Albany Branch of the Albany Public Library are attached to the school.

This was one of the thirteen schools built during the long and prolific tenure of Superintendent Charles Jones, who served the district from 1912 to 1932. These included one high school, two junior high schools, and ten elementary schools. This is the third building known as school 20, and it was built in 1924. The others were on Mohawk Street and North Pearl. This attests to the districts dedication to providing quality education to all of its children.
