A Railway station on the West Coast Main Line, maintained by Virgin Trains. Virgin Trains operate services towards London as well as to Birmingham, Crewe & the North. Under the West Midlands Franchise, Central Trains operate southbound services to Long Buckby & Northampton and northbound to Coventry, Birmingham International (Airport) & Birmingham New Street -- occasionally calling at the following smaller stations: Canley, Tile Hill, Berkswell, Hampton-In-Arden, Marston Green, Lea Hall, Stechford & Adderley Park.

The station is currently undergoing redevelopment and is the site of Rugby Junction, where the Northampton loop splits from the mainline southbound and the Trent Valley route splits from the original Birmingham line northbound.
