  • This lake is owned in large part by the City of Lafayette, CO and supplies water to that city. Two private clubs have use of the lake each year. The Baseline Lake Recreation Group uses the beaches on the north side of the lake and the boat club has access to the west and south banks and the water for skiing.
  • Why should a publicly funded lake only be accessible by a couple of private elitist clubs?
  • It is also interesting that this lake is a no-wake usage, yet the City allows the boats to create wake and inturn increase cost of treating water due this issue. FYI
  • I've also wondered why recreational uses for this publicly owned lake are managed by one private club for its own benefit. The water ski club won't allow any other boats on the lake and severely limits swimming. It also stores several campers vehicles and other temporary structures and limits who can access the property, using it like a private camping facility. This is not a good use of a public lake.
  • Yes, I just noticed this res today. It is fenced and heavily posted. Then I saw beaches and campers. It was so odd to me that I googled and found these comments. I'm going to research at that city. Love to get my hands on a membership list. Satellite shows two very nice estates. Wonder who lives there? Perhaps it may shed some light on it's exclusivity.
