It stands 185 feet above the Des Moines River at a length of 2,685 feet. It was renamed in 1982 to honor Kate Shelley. It was decommissioned on August 22, 2009, replaced by an adjacent new bridge to the North . The new double track bridge is 190' high and 2,550' in length.
