Modern town near ancient ruins of Miran, 16 kilometers west-south-west. Ancient Miran was a less-famous Silk Road city, one of the later capitals of the Kingdom of Loulan, later called the Kingdom of Shanshan). Ruled at different times by local rulers, central China, and Tibet. 3rd to 8th century CE.
