Power plant built for the 1906 railroad electrification generating 25Hz power. By the 1960's the plant was woefully insufficient and trains had to have scheduled stops so that the power dispatcher could transfer energy to other trains. Near New Haven the voltage would drop so low that sometimes the air compressors would stop working.
Shut down in the 1980's when Metro-North switched the line to 60Hz grid power.
