Sandomierz (pronounced [san'domʲɛʂ]; German: Sandomir; Latin: Sandomiria) is a city in south-eastern Poland with 25,714 inhabitants (2006).Situated in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (since 1999), previously in Tarnobrzeg Voivodeship (1975-1998). It is the capital of Sandomierz County (since 1999).Sandomierz is known for its Old Town, a major tourist attraction.
