Bandi Chor

India / Madhya Pradesh / Jaora /

This is a shrine of Bandi Chor Baba, in 80s it had Banyan trees with the ripe roots hanging upto the level of the land. No one used to disturb the nature due to the scare of gettin bad spell from the Baba. Now people don't care, we are having draught and water shortages.

If you look carefully above pictures, you will see the lemons nailed into the trees. Lemons are nailed to get rid of the bad spells (it is a belief, undhwishwas ), but in reality the tree is getting injured. Soon this tree will die not being able to sustain the constant injuries. (Prove:-see the dead tree at the Jaora Hussain Tekri once was in full bloom and now a dead tree due to nailing lemons) The conservation authority should take a notice and educate people not to do this. My suggestion is to wrap the trunk with another peace of wood for nailing neeboo to save the tree.
