Town in Voronezh Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Don River 55 kilometers (34 mi) south of Voronezh. Population: 30,658 (2021 Census).
Novovoronezh was established along with the start of the future nuclear power plant construction works in 1957. It was then called the urban settlement of Novo-Graessovsky, but renamed its current name later the same year. The first unit of 210 MW of the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant was put into power on September 30, 1964. From 1959 to 1963 Novovoronezh was the center of the Novovoronezh district, and its administrative status was upgraded from the urban settlement to a town in 1987.
