Designed c. 1902 in the Beaux Arts style by Carrère & Hastings with structural elements by the Guastavino Fireproof Tile Co. It contains a 2,691 seat assembly hall which houses one of the world's largest organs, the Newberry Memorial Organ which was built in 1828 by the Skinner Organ Company.

The Memorial Rotunda is a domed, colonnaded version of Bramante's Tempietto commemorating Yale's deceased veterans with sculptural work by Henry Hering. The inspiration may have come from the Hotel de Salm in Paris. Above the memorial on the second floor is the President's Room which is used for donor and ceremonial receptions.
