Originally built in 1908 as The Palace Hotel, after the Revolution this building served for many years as a wing of the Peace Hotel, along with the Sassoon House across Nanjing Road. It was restored in 2010 by the Swiss Swatch Group to serve as an artist's residence, boutique design hotel and retail space.
