There is one outdoor hockey rink.
This is a community centre. Like 10 years ago it was booming. Now it' prodominatly used for hockey in the winter and soccer in the summer. Which means those baseball diamonds are a huge waste of space.
everytime I drive by this place it is empty on the fields, the parking lot is always full because of indoor soccer but outside is like a barren wasteland. Sometimes the soccer fields have little kids games going on but they are not entertaining at all. And all the parents show up in suits, even the mom's, which makes it look like the parents were dragged here out of guilt that they didn't want their child to be deprived of some form of social interaction. Plus it allows them to meet a parent who does not wear a suit, who doesn't work the rediculous hours they do who could pick up their child and drive them to and from the soccer game.
In winter the outside hockey rink is bustling with a game of shiny or people trying to master the perfect deke. They actually use to play real games outside with the full equipment and uniforms but ever since the indoor arena was built this was a thing of the past. Really the kids of today have no idea how hard it is to try and skate in -30 weather with the wind blowing, and you're 6.
