This place is widely known as 'Banda Sappan'(the place of snakes)'. This is a likely misinterpretted name. According to a legend, this place is named after a person called Yousaf, who was a notable of this area. This name (Yousuf) gradually turned into Sappan, which means 'snakes'. Therefore the meaning has drastically changed from 'The Place of Yousuf' to 'The Place of Snakes'. Prominent residents of this locality are Inspector Zaman (late), Fazal Urrehman Nizami (ex councellor), Fazal Rehman Meer (late), Haji Muhammad Hussain (late), Sumundar Khan (late), Sardar Muhammad Younus (late), etc.

According to my knowledge, i heard two stories about this Name "Banda Sappan" 1.The name of this ares come into existence by the name of the owner (of that time) of this land, named Sappan Khan. I don't know really who he was, but as Mr. Rehman meer told about the notable of this land (Mr.Yousaf) may be Sappan Khan is his nick Name. 2. the name of this area come into existence just because of the, abundance of snakes in this area.
