Centennial Park (Sydney)

Australia / New South Wales / Sydney

Created in 1888 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the landing of the First Fleet. Great place for running, cycling or just a good old fashioned aussie bbq. Once a month there is a "Car free Sunday" which is good for the kids.

Centennial Park is also a small residential suburb, on the western fringe of the parkland, which is part of the local government area of the City of Sydney.

  • I lived nearby Centennial Park for over 2 yrs.It was a love at first sight:)Centennial Park is just a wonderful green oasis in the middle of the city. Weekends are usually crowded with people and it's difficult to find a parking spot- so leave your car at home and use a public transport or even better- your feet ! I used to go jogging every evening and enjoying mid-week evenings, sunsets, hungry ducks, cheeky cockatoos,pelicans,turtles..beautiful gardens..and old trees there's so much to see.. That place has a healing power, everytime I go there it's a special treat to my soul !
  • Some friends and i play inline hockey in centennial park - the netball courts right on the eastern edge.
  • The erea is abt 200ha, so great public area!
