The handicrafts that can be found in the handicraft room are all made by Estonian mothers and grandmothers. At first, ideas came from the manors, because there were German-language handicraft magazines circulating there. In 1936, the Estonian-language magazine “Taluperenaine” began to be published, which had many handicraft patterns and instructions on how to make your home beautiful. This is how Estonian women also began to learn handicraft techniques that were done elsewhere in the world. In addition, you can find beautiful towels in the handicraft room. In the past, there were two towels on a towel rack at once: the lower side was used to dry your face or hands, the upper side was a beauty towel - it was very beautiful and only for beauty. It was not used for drying. Crocheted handicrafts are also represented - tablecloths, window curtains, lace for towels or bedspreads. The most magnificent exhibits are a morning robe (a wedding gift, approximately 70 years old) and bedspreads decorated with colorful embroidery, which were fashionable in Western Estonia, Muhu, Hiiumaa and Saaremaa, but are rare today.
