The museum's collection includes everyday objects, tools, written memories and documents from the city and rural municipality of Tamsalu. Student research and information about famous people have been collected. The research focus is on the development of Tamsalu, the Battle of Porkuni and the establishment of the Vistla cemetery. Work at the museum is carried out on a voluntary basis. History lessons are held for students. Cooperation is being made with the Estonian Paeliid in the establishment of a lime park and the organization of outdoor education, and contributions are being made to the Estonian National Museum.
