This sandy beach is surrounded by remnants of ancient Hawaii, from stone house ruins to old fishponds and bird nests. In fact, the beach itself is just the tail-end of a long journey through Hawaii’s fascinating past.
The Aiopio Beach is part of the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, a rich archeological site just north of the Honokohau Harbor. Here you can find artifacts detailing the way Hawaiians lived in the past, before the time of James Cook and the civilization that followed suit.
