One of four middle schools in the city, Talbot was opened up in the mid-twentieth century to provide school space for baby boomers. It serves students in the east end of the city, though there is talk that it may be shut down due to the much larger capacity of the new Kuss Middle School, which could alleviate the need for a fourth middle school
