The Fort McClellan Post Cemetery originally supported the once large and active Fort McClellan Army Post which unfortunately closed in 1999 due to the Base Realignment and Closure process. Despite this closure the cemetery continued to remain active and a regular stop for many visitors to the area. The cemetery, with its notable entryway arches and beautiful setting within the landscape, pays homage to the heroes who have been interred there. It has remained an active part of the community regularly visited by boy scout groups and Wreaths Across America. The cemetery transferred from the Army to the National Cemetery Administration in September 2020.
