Named after an erstwhile building named Biram Mandir the place has gradually developed into a residential complex. Earlier the Zaminders developed this area into their office complex cum residence. Just behind the Biram Mandir was located Tapoban with numerous fruit bearing treees and a few huts. the office complex, the so called kachhari was surrounded with a compound wall. Soils excavated while digging a pond was mounded in the form of hillock, popularly called as the pahar. A huge mango grove existed in the area. A kNathal bagan was located in the northern fringe. During the mid seventies the trees were felled and sold; the area was divided into a number of small plots which were disposed off. the present settlers are from heterogeneous background but mostly from the surrounding region. Issues of importance are social security and water scarcity.
