  • I spent three weeks at El Adem as a member of the RAF Regt. (1958) in order to protect the escape!!!!! of King Idras. Watta a shite place. Thank Allah that Col Gadaffi took over - Idras was a complete despot and the fact that I could have put my young (22yrs) life on the line for such an berk is a reflection on the neo-facist government GB had at the time. Apart from anything else the water tasted like horse dung, the tents were shite, FOOD - For Christ's sake!!! I only had 40 rounds of ammo and my weapons were constantly buggered by sand. God bless those of ALL nations who fought over this dump in WW2 - they were the real heros. Nick T. (Cpl. RAF. Rgt)
