Welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. It is one of the Nation’s leading institutions in both the teaching and research of Engineering Sciences. The department was established in the year 1963 with undergraduate program and initiated postgraduate (M. Tech.) program in Coal Chemicals and Fertilizers in the year of 1981. The M. Tech. program on Coal Chemicals and Fertilizer has been discontinued followed by starting of M. Tech. degree in “Chemical Engineering”. The department also offers Ph.D. (Regular, Sponsored, and QIP) and M. Tech (Res) degrees. The Chemical Engineering programme at NIT, Rourkela, with its interdisciplinary flavors along with its diversified structure is dedicated to the aspiring students and mentoring them for the broad spectrum of Chemical Engineering careers. The department emphasizes programs in both engineering and research. Above and beyond the classes, all the students carry out independent research through project and thesis work.
