This area comprises two World War I Defence Electric Emplacements and associated engine house which were originally situated within an enclosure, parts of which survive within the landscaping. The enclosure also had landward defences. The emplacements are situated 20 metres apart and constructed of reinforced concrete, steel and brick. Each comprises a rectangular building with semi-octagonal flat roofed projections at the seaward corners. The projections were originally fitted with sliding shutters which were opened when the light was in operation. The emplacements were operated from a director station situated within the World War I Battery Observation Post, 300 metres to the south. Only one of the lights was thought to be operational during World War II.
