A complete list of little-known rules and features of working with Wikimapia.
1. Objects need to be named! Although this is not prohibited by the rules, it is better not to create objects without names, since, firstly, they are likely to be deleted, and secondly, the question mark displayed in the name interferes with the perception of the map. In addition, the Wikimapia mobile app crashes and closes itself when you click on such objects.
2. The disappeared objects in the historical layer should have only ONE category "Historical layer/disappeared object", otherwise, when filtering by other categories, the disappeared objects will be highlighted along with the existing ones.
3. When deleting sections of rivers that have banks, you must first remove the banks, and then the section itself. Otherwise, the banks will remain on their own, and it will no longer be possible to remove them.
4.If you create a path for an object with a frame, you need to create this path TWO times, otherwise the new path will not be displayed.
5.If a street already exists, when adding its name, you need to select from the list of existing ones, and not write it by hand, since every time you save a new street name (including one that completely matches the spelling), you create a new linear object. In this case, the object you have created will not be in the list of anchored near the original street. In addition, the letters in the house number must be written with a small letter.
6.Adding photos, as well as creating nested objects is possible only when using the http protocol (in the "New" Wikimapia)
7.If you are adding a title or description to an unnamed object, check which editing language is enabled (in most cases, English).
8. Do not mark already exploded railway lines as line features. They can be marked as a simple object, with the category "embankment", "clearing", etc.
9.If you create an extended linear object, then it is advisable to regularly save the changes, otherwise the inscription "Error segment creation" or the like may appear, after which you will have to start editing from the beginning.
10. With a significant change in the contour of the object, you need to make the change gradual, otherwise, if you change the contour too much at a time, the system will generate an error and you will have to draw the contour again.
11.Do not create random objects, as for deleting your object (including removing your object) 250 experience points will be removed from you (regardless of the scale of the object).
12. Before deleting objects, you need to delete their categories and address in order to avoid their appearing in various filtering lists, and also create contours for objects with frames, since the "circles" of uncontrolled objects are still visible after deletion.
