A large funerary complex built by King Senwosret III in the 19th century BC, surrounded with a perimeter enclosure and various structures, under the cliffs on the edge of South Abydos. Originally it was assumed to be a cenotaph (symbolic tomb), but recent research suggests it was functional, and the royal tomb was cut underground, reaching under the cliffs. The complex is associated with a funerary temple on the same axis, located to the northeast, on the edge of the cultivation.
