The excavated part of a wider archaeological site named in reference to the village of Semibugry to the southwest. Closer, but across the Bolda river, and also within the larger area of the site, is the village of Baraniy Bugor. Archaeological excavations began in 2020 and continued in 2021, resulting in the identification of the material culture of the site as Khazar, and the suggestion that it is the location of the lost capital of the Khazars, Itil.
