The Stade de France is the national stadium of France, situated in Saint-Denis, an inner suburb of Paris. It has an all-seater capacity of 81,336 in a three-tier configuration with 172 luxury boxes.
The Stade de France, designed by a team consisting of Michel Macary, Aymeric Zublena, Regembal Michel, and Claude Constantini, was constructed from May 1995 to January 1998 at a cost of €290,000,000. The lowest of the stadium's three tiers is movable to uncover part of the athletics track. The roof, having an area of 6 hectares and weights 13,000 tons, covers the stands. The pitch size if 105 m x 70 m.
The stadium is currently used by the France National Football Team and the France National Rugby Union Team for international competition. It is one of the Six nations Rugby Stadiums. It also serves as a second home facility for the Stade Français rugby union club. It is also the venue for the Top 14 (the domestic rugby championship) final every year.
Among the events the Stade de France hosted were the 1998 FIFA World Cup Final, the 2003 IAAF World Championships in Athletics, the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup Final, the Race of Champions in 2004, 2005, and 2006, the UEFA Champions League Final in 2000 and 2006, the 2007 Rugby World Cup, and the 2016 European Football Championship.
