Iceberg A-76 recently calved from the western side of the Ronne Ice Shelf in the Weddell Sea. With an area of about 4160 km2, a length of 160 km on its longest axis and a width of 26 km on its widest axis, it is currently, according to the U.S. National Ice Center, the largest iceberg in the world.
