Victory Square was built and dedicated in 1975. Its architectural and artistic core is a complex of monuments - with sculptures of those who defended against fascism, an eternal flame, an obelisk and plaques displaying various honors and decorations conferred upon Voronezh, its citizens and the divisions, who participated in the battles that led to the liberation of Voronezh from Nazi occupation during the Great Patriotic War (World War II).

For many years, Victory Square has been a gathering place for veterans on Victory Day, May 9. It is from here that processions begin on May 1, on November 7, etc.
